Big Swingin' Cycles brings a rare blend of technical acumen, commitment to the community, and passion for the sport, married to a "main street" friendliness and attention to service that is rapidly disappearing in today's retail environment. Everyone on staff is technically competent, spending time on the sales floor and in our workshop. Our staff regularly attend continuing education to make sure our customers can rely on us as a premiere resource for product knowledge, service, and fitting expertise. Although we are "die hard" cyclists, (we have USA Cycling certified coaches on staff, sponsor several road cycling teams, a mountain team, cyclo-cross team, tri clubs and the AIDS Lifecycle ride), we shun the attitude and elitism displayed by some shops and deal with ALL our customers in a friendly, inviting manner. As retail cycling professionals, we only sell bikes - we don't sell in line skates, camp stoves, skis or hiking boots. Our commitment is to match you to the right bike for your cycling mission. We stock a smart selection of of product for road and mountain enthusiasts, endurance and competitive cyclists, intelligent bikes for commuting and getting around the City, as well as nicer bikes for kids and youth. We also have what we feel is the best electric bike option available today.

Community is a high priority at Big Swingin'. We go out of our way to do what we can to make the world a little nicer. Since opening our doors in 2000, we've been a sponsor for the AIDS Lifecycle, donating thousands in merchandise and service in support of the event. We've consistently donated bikes and other merchandise to local schools for auction fund raising events over the years. We've also supported fundraisers for MS, and the American Cancer Society. Our shop is the promoter, chair and chief organizer for the annual Lion of Fairfaxcyclo-cross race in Marin County. This race serves as a primary fund raiser for White Hill Middle School in Fairfax, CA and helps fund key programs that otherwise would suffer. We always support the fine folks at the SF Bike Coalition, as well as the Nor Cal High School Mountain Bike League.

Big Swingin' Cycles was founded in 2000 by Brian Bruckner. Brian has been an avid cyclist for over 30 years and has gained a vast knowledge of the sport and industry through extensive hands on work both in the shop and on the front lines at races, as well as at many continuing education courses and technical training opportunities put on by leading manufacturers in the industry. Brian has also spent considerable time on (and off) the bike: on and off road, triathlons, coaching, and of course, casual rides with family and friends.

Prior to opening the shop, Brian was a Vice President at a Bay Area company engaged in the design and manufacture of control and safety systems for large engines used in applications for transportation, power generation, oil and gas production, as well as many other industrial applications. The 10+ years spent in this capacity provided Brian a solid knowledge platform for much of the technical transformations going on in the cycling industry today. Brian is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.
